John⁶ Whitney (Ephraim⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Ephraim⁵ and Marcy (Winslow) Whitney, was born 1 Jul 1760, Petersham, MA,^[1] and died 13 Oct 1849, Dummerston, VT.

He married, 8 Nov 1787, Petersham, MA, Hannah Bigelow,^[2] daughter of Daniel and Mary (Bond) Bigelow. She was born 4 Mar 1760, Worcester, MA, and died 8 Aug 1828.

He was born in Petersham, MA, and moved to Newfane on a farm. Later he moved to West Dummerston, where he followed farming and ever after resided. He resided Newfane and Dover, VT, Colrain, MA, and West Dummerston, VT.
