Newton7 Whitney (Solomon6, Solomon5, Solomon4, David3, Joshua2, John1), son of Solomon6 and Nancy (Hurlbut) Whitney, was born 26 Sep 1822, Poultney, VT, and died 1894, Des Moines, IA.
He married, Oct 1858, Deep River, IA, Catherine Dillon. She was born 27 Nov 1833, OH, and died 10 Jul 1870 [Pierce] or Jul 1869, Deep River, IA, aged 37 of a miscarriage.[1]
He married secondly, 21 Mar 1872, Poweshiek Co., IA, Margaret Love. She was born about 1844, PA.
He was born in Poultney, VT, where his ancestors were early settlers. Residing with his father until after thirty years of age, in 1855 he migrated westward, and settled in Des Moines, IA, where he has since resided. He was one of the California pioneers of 1849, and resided in the Golden State two years. He resided Des Moines, Iowa, 328 E. 5th street.
