Thomas J. Whitney (Daniel), son of Daniel and Sally (Coffin) Whitney, was born 11 Apr 1804, Nantucket, MA,^[1] and died 19 Apr 1872, Nantucket, aged 68 years, of general debility.^[2]

He married 28 Feb 1836, Nantucket, MA, Esther A. Dunning,^[3] daughter of Auron and Sarah (-----) Dunning. She was born 4 Jul 1814,^[4] Brunswick, ME, and died 9 Nov 1869, Nantucket, MA, aged 64 years, of disease of the liver.^[5]
