Thomas J. Whitney (Daniel), son of Daniel and Sally (Coffin) Whitney, was born 11 Apr 1804, Nantucket, MA,[1] and died 19 Apr 1872, Nantucket, aged 68 years, of general debility.[2]

He married 28 Feb 1836, Nantucket, MA, Esther A. Dunning,[3] daughter of Auron and Sarah (-----) Dunning. She was born 4 Jul 1814,[4] Brunswick, ME, and died 9 Nov 1869, Nantucket, MA, aged 64 years, of disease of the liver.[5]

ii. John D. Whitney, b. 11 Jul 1850, Nantucket, MA;[8] d. 27 Nov 1917, Newton, MA; unmarried; "Rev.", S.J.; trustee of Boston College, 1908; of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY, in 1911; of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Baltimore, MD, in 1914.
