Wilson H.3 Widney (Alexander Erwin2, Charles1, James), son of Alexander Erwin2 and Margaret (Hammond) Widney, was born 28 Apr 1837, Path Valley, PA, and "Wilson R." died 29 Dec 1915, Omaha, NE. He "William H." was buried in Summit Cemetery, Yorktown, IA.[1]

He was called "William" in some records, and "Wilson" in others.

He married firstly, 28 Aug 1860, Henry Co., IL, Harriet Payton, daughter of William and Mary Ann (Hamilton) Payton. She was born 23 Mar 1844,[sic] IN, and died 28 Mar 1875, Clarinda, IA, aged 30 years 4 months 11 days.[sic] She was buried in Summit Cemetery, Yorktown, IA.[2]

He "William R." married secondly, 31 Dec 1870, Roxanna Barrett. She was born 31 Dec 1845, ME, and died 7 Feb 1923, Omaha, NE. She was buried in Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, IA.[3]

"At an advanced age, 80 or more years, William H. Widney, formerly of Yorktown, died in Omaha, Nebr., at 2 am Wednesday, Dec 29, 1915. He had been in failing health for a long time. He was born in Franklin county, Pa., went from there to McHenry county, Ill., and came to Page county, Ia., in 1870. From a farm near Yorktown he moved to that place when it was organizing, and for many years conducted a live stock business. He was twice married. Surviving him are there children of his first marriage: Mrs. Emmett Funston, South Dakota; William Widney, Shenandoah; Mrs. Charles Chaffin, Calif.; Mrs. Sam Pitman, East River township, Page county; M. L. Widney, Yorktown. Their mother, who before her marriage was Hattie Payton, died forty years ago last March. For his second wife he married Miss Roxie Walton. By his second marriage he left one surviving daughter, Mrs. Lute Vance of Omaha. The remains are to arrive from Omaha, in Yorktown, tomorrow, on the Keokuk and Western midday train from the west. The funeral will be at the Yorktown Methodist Episcopal church at 1 pm tomorrow, following the arrival of the remains. Burial is to be in the Summit cemetery."
