Rev. Daniel Sanderson8 Whitney (Amaziah7, Caleb6, Caleb5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Amaziah7 and Sarah (Trull) Whitney, was born 4 Feb 1810, Danvers, MA, and died 14 Mar 1894, Southborough, MA, aged 84 years 1 month 10 days, of inflammation of the kidneys.[1]

He "Rev." "of Milford" married, 23 Jun 1842, Boylston, MA, Hannah Sophia Phillips Cotton,[2] daughter of Ward and Rebecca (Jackson) Cotton. She was born 16 Oct 1810, Boylston, MA, and died 13 Feb 1904, 17 Perry Street, Cambridge, MA, aged 93 years 3 months 28 days, of old age, angina, and dilatation of heart.[3]

Mr. Whitney studied for the ministry with Rev. Paul Dean, of Boston, and was ordained as an evangelist by the Massachusetts Association of Restorationists. He is a warm-hearted, conscientious, earnest preacher of practical Christianity in its various reformatory bearings, though never settled as a pastor. He has preached at different periods for longer or shorter terms in Middlesex village, West Boylston and Berlin. Also lectured much on temperance and other reforms. He was one of the original coadjutors in the attempt to establish the Community at Hopedale; commenced there in 1842, his wife likewise becoming a member and the family continuing till 1850. Since then he has resided in other localities, namely, Southborough, where he was postmaster in 1871. While residing in Boylston that town elected him its delegate to the state convention of 1853 for revising the constitution. Concerning his participation in that body, he dryly says: "The only things that made me a white crow in that convention were my advocacy of the proposition to leave the term male out of the constitution, as Francis Jackson and his friends desired it should be, and the proposition to put aside the military organization and intrust the execution of the laws to the legal voters, who really enacted them;" resided Boylston, Milford and Southborough, MA.

Billings, of Canton, teacher, aged 27; b. Canton, son of Samuel and Dorcas (Clark) Billings.[8]
iii. Alice G. C. Whitney, b. 21 Jul 1852; m. 20 Jul 1871, Southborough, MA, Hazen James Burton, Jr., of Boston, salesman, aged 24; b. Roxbury, son of Hazen Jonathan and Harriet Lincoln (Smith) Burton;[9] five ch.
