Frederick D.⁹ Whitney (John Clark⁸, Samuel⁷, Samuel⁶, Joseph⁵, Timothy⁴, John³, John², John¹), son of John Clark⁸ and Harriett Y. (Dickinson) Whitney, was born 2 Sep 1858, WI, and died 25 Jan 1942, Los Angeles, CA.^[1]

He married, 20 Jan 1891, Meigs Co., OH, Emma M. Rine.^[2] She was born 12 Dec 1856, OH, and died 26 Mar 1945, Los Angeles, CA.^[3]

He resided Black Hill, ND, in 1895.

Fred D.⁹ and Emma (Rine) Whitney had no children. They adopted:

i.	Bertha Jackson, b. Apr 1891, IA.
ii.	Earl Whitney, b. Aug 1892, CO.
