James Osgood9 Whitney (Oreson A.8, Luke7, William6, William5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Oreson A.8 and Amanda (Chase) Whitney, was born 31 Dec 1831, Gardner, MA, and died 29 Jun 1875 [record not found in MA].

He "of Winchendon" married, 28 Jul 1853, Barre, MA, Maria Drury "of Westminster", daughter of Abner Miles and Maria (School)(Drury) Drury.[1] She was born about 12 Mar 1835, Westminster, MA, and died 16 Feb 1869, Westminster, MA, aged 34 years 10 months 4 days, of heart difficulty.[2]

He was first a chairmaker and later a marble worker. He resided Baldwinsville, MA, and Rosewood, FL.

ii. James E. Whitney, b. ca. 27 Jun 1856, Winchendon or Templeton, MA [given name omitted];[3] d. 31 Aug 1857, Templeton, MA, aged 1 year 1 month 3 days, of dysentery.[4]
