James W.8 Whitney (Amos7, Hezekiah 6, Elias5, Lemuel4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Amos7 and Patty (Wilder) Whitney, was born 13 Mar 1818, Stow, MA, and died 9 or 8 Jul 1892, Sterling, MA, aged 74 years 3 months 25 days, of heart disease.[1]

He married firstly, 23 Dec 1852, Leominster, MA, Amanda M. Bartlett, daughter of Thomas and Mary (-----) Bartlett.[2] She was born about 1833, Hancock, NH, and died 17 Sep 1853, Sterling, MA, aged 19 years, of consumption.[3]

He married secondly, 27 Aug 1854, Leominster, MA, Sultina V. Bartlett, daughter of Thomas and Mary (-----) Bartlett.[4] She was born 24 Oct 1837, Dublin, NH.

He was a farmer. He resided Sterling, MA.
